September 19, 2006 - The President of the Polish Association of Feed Producers PZPP, Leszek Iracki, passed away on August 25, 2006. Mr Iracki will be remembered for his professionalism and passion for the creation and development of the modern Polish feed and poultry sectors. His devotion to the industry is reflected in his chairmanship of Bacutil - an organisation he created and which constructed many new feedmills based on imported technology and equipment from Western Europe from 1970-1990
During the period of economic transformation in Poland after 1990, Mr Iracki retired but commitment to the industry did not diminish. He was still working in the feed sector at the time of his death.
He was the cofounder of the association of feed manufacturers, aiming for greater innovation and modernisation of their industry through technological co-operation and capital investment from western companies. He was elected President of the PZPP, a position he held until his death.
Mr Iracki was the driving force behind bringing the Polish feed sector to the international stage. He worked with IFIF to host Feed Road Shows and saw his organisation join IFIF as an association member in the mid-1990s.
More recently he was an observer member of the European Feed Manufacturers Federation from 2000-04. Since 2004 the active member of FEFAC is the newly formed Polish Association, called IZBA Gospodarcza, which represents half of the country’s 5.9 million tonnes of annual feed production.
