April 1, 2010: Feed’s future debated in world heritage resort
CANCUN, MEXICO — A world congress to explore the organization of feed supplies over the coming decades will be taking place in April at the location of one of the world’s ancient cultures that pioneered standards for an ordered society.
The III Global Feed & Food Congress opens in Cancun, Mexico, on April 20, 2010. The resort of Cancun --- on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula --- is in an area known as the Maya Riviera because of its links to the Mayan culture of over 2000 years ago.
The Mayan connection has made the area a hugely popular tourist destination, to visit world architectural heritage sites such as the pyramid at Edzná and the walled city of Tulum.
But it will be the future rather than the past that shapes the discussions at the Cancun congress. The challenges facing the further development of commercial feed production and marketing across the world are to be covered in a series of sessions over three full days that feature keynote lectures from 60 of the top experts in their specialist fields.
The III Global Feed & Food Congress in Cancun, Mexico (see http://www.globalfeed-food.com) runs on dates of April 20-23, 2010, and is hosted by the Mexican Feed Manufacturers Association, CONAFAB. It is being organized by the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) with technical assistance from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
