Who's who in IFIF
IFIF operates a straight forward structure.
The day-to-day running of the Federation is carried out by Federation staff at
its head office in Cheltenham, UK. The office is headed by the Secretary General
who is supported by an office manager and other staff. Federation finances
is controlled by its Treasurer.
Under its Articles of Association, held in Luxembourg, the Federation is a non-profile
organisation and has an Executive President to link its management structure
with elected Council and Board members.
The organisation is run by a 12-member Board, made up of elected from a pool
of Council Members. Council Members are elected from the general membership at
every third Annual Assembly. In addition to the President, the Board may elect
up to three vice-Presidents. Office holders may be re-elected.
The IFIF has some 60 members in its three-category membership structure. Anyone
operating in or around the feed sector can apply to become a member.
The philosophy
of the Federation is to be all-encompassing in representing the feed industry.
While its core membership base is national feed associations, and its does
everything to strengthen this group of members, the Federation welcomes
individual feed companies - particularly nationals and multinational
companies - to its ranks. These companies join under the corporate membership
category. The third group is feed-related organisations. Many of these
groups work in an around the feed sector and have an influence on the production
and manufacturer of animal feeds.
IFIF holds its Annual General Meeting usually during a major feed
event, where it reviews its activities for the past 12 months,
sets targets and plans for the coming year and approves the accounts
and budget. Once every three years this assembly elects its office
holders. The IFIF President regularly meets with the Secretary
General, Treasurer and other elected members to carry out the wishes
of the membership. Day-to-day activities are conducted by the IFIF's
Secretary General.
Individual members have the opportunity to use IFIF services direct.
Members are encouraged to meet at IFIF-sponsored activities to
discuss topical issues and put forward policy suggestions for IFIF
consideration.
